Estoril’s Coast
South and west bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Estoril’s Coast stretches from Carcavelos to the northern boundary of the Cascais area.
With good weather and natural conditions, the Estoril’s coast has taken good care of what nature has offered, becoming an international summer resort. With its unique coastline beauty, abundant historical testimonies from ancient times, and a mild weather throughout the year, these are excellent characteristics which allow a variety of sports, from fishing, tennis, golf, horse riding and sailing, to surfing, motorcycling and motor racing.
By the seaside, Estoril is not far from Lisbon, neither from the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, of exceptional beauty, ecological and environmental importance. It’s also close to 2 airports, several 4 or 5 star hotel units, one of the largest casinos in Europe, a thermal spa complex, a racing circuit, a convention center and several golf courses.
These are the greatest Estoril strengths. We invite you to meet many others.
Cascais
The town of Cascais is a popular tourist attraction. Many international personalities, lived exiled in Cascais and Estoril, like the Counts of Barcelona, the kings of Italy and Romania Umberto II and Charles II.
Given its geographic location, Cascais was for a long time a strategic place of defence. Therefore, its architectural heritage is linked to the defence of Portuguese territory and shipping.
Since the late 19th century, the town became one of the most popular tourism destinations. Visitors can enjoy a great weather all year long, beautiful beaches and landscapes, hotels and a varied gastronomic offer.
The many ancient roman and visigothic ruins (villages and necropolis) tell us that this region is inhabited since ancient times. There are churches and chapels as well as mansions of the Portuguese nobility dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Sintra
This town, full of charm and romance, is perhaps the most mentioned Portuguese town in national and international literature. Very old, Sintra was admired by the British poet Lord Byron, for its stunning natural beauty.
Monumental small town, where the history of each building makes you go back in time, Sintra is exciting for its magnificent and exotic architecture as well as its perfect landscape.
It is undoubtedly a captivating and inspiring region from the mountain to the sea. We recommend a visit through Sintra’s surroundings, where you can witness the imposing Cabo da Roca. In one slop of the romantic Sintra hills, lays a so-called Moorish Castle, built by the Arabs in the 8th and 9th centuries A.C.
Exponent of the Portuguese romantic age, the Pena National Palace, also known as Pena Castle, is a brilliant work of art from the german Wilhelm von Eschwege, which, under the sponsorship of King Fernando II, designed, in the mid-nineteenth century, this beautiful king of Portugal’s summer residence.
In another mountain slope lays the
Quinta of Regaleira. Gardens and an exuberant forest, lakes and statues, romantic corners and a symbolic richness make this magnificent Quinta da Regaleira an unforgettable place.
At the heart of the historic town, you can visit the imposing Sintra’s Royal Palace, dating from the 15th century, characterized by its large conical chimneys. See the chapel and the coat of arms, magpies and swans rooms.
